Let's Talk Cases!
Your Charity Needs a Case Statement
I just finished reading a book about a 1500-year-old theologian. He wrote his life story in a book called Confessions.
It made me think about the non-profit story. Every charity has a story tell: it could be one that outlines its history, shares client stories or even explains its vision for the future.
Hopefully, your charity’s case has all these elements.
Why do I write about the importance of a case? It is difficult, if not impossible, to write grants, develop a fundraising plan, or even create a strategic plan without knowing your charity’s story. It even helps solicit donors. A case connects donors to your mission, gives funders reasons to give, and even demonstrates impact to those government grantors.
I always suggest getting your charity’s vision down on paper. It does not have to be long; it just needs to be usable.
Next week, I am going to talk about the importance of outcomes and evaluation.
